Clamping heads are used to secure and fix axially moving loads in mechanical engineering, for example in presses. A manufacturer of such products, based on hydraulic and pneumatic control, commissioned tech-solute to investigate whether a system function that meets the requirements is also possible according to the electromagnetic principle. Starting with the design and construction of a laboratory magnet, various magnetic core materials were investigated. HAmong other things, the maximum force and power consumption were recorded on a test stand specially developed for this project.
