Slicers are industrially used machines for slicing cold meats, cheese and ham in capacities of up to more than 1,500 kilograms per hour. The customer’s goal was to modernise the product family currently on the market, partly in order to achieve savings in manufacturing costs. tech-solute’s task was to support the project in the area of mechanical engineering. The activities ranged from conceptual design through construction of a pilot series to series construction. As part of the development of the design for series production, the individual assemblies were laid out and designed on the basis of the specifications. Aspects of variant creation and the modular principle were taken into account. The finite element method (FEM) was used to check heavily loaded components and assemblies so that the rigidity of the system is ensured even under full load.
