Bending is a process to bend a flat workpiece out of sheet metal. It follows immediately after cutting in the processing chain. The workpiece lies on a tool with a V-shaped opening. A wedge-shaped tool presses the workpiece into the V-opening bending it to a desired angle. With the aim of determining the probability of failure of a novel machine concept, tech-solute conducted an FTA workshop together with the customer. The logical links of subsystem failures on all critical paths, which could lead to an overall system failure, were determined..
