Creative ideas for a “Ruanda Jackhammer”

The demolition hammers used in the raw material mines of Rwanda are usually bought cheaply from China. Within a very short time, many of these products break because they are unsuitable for the specific application. It is difficult to get spare parts from abroad, so a solution was sought as to how the country could produce comparable but better products itself. tech-solute took a closer look at the defective demolition hammers and developed a new one that is adapted to the environmental conditions and repair possibilities there. Such “frugal innovation” is a kind of regression to what is really needed in Ruanda. The ideas underlying this development were developed together with the client in “idea boosting” workshops.
