Problem solution on an edge banding machine
A manufacturer of woodworking machines was late in delivering an edgebanding machine due to a technical problem. Such machines are used to apply banding material to the edges of chipboard. The glue applied to the edge is heated by a laser, and then the edge banding is precisely applied. In this particular case, inexplicable soiling of the glass protective cover occurred due to the heated glue. As an expert in problem solving, tech-solute was able to implement a structured approach to finding possible causes together with some of the company’s employees at short notice. Tests were defined and executed to prove possible causes. Within just one day, the cause of the problem was found: an unsuitable coating on the glass cover was causing excessive heat to build up underneath.
